Interest compounds over completed quarters only. The days left at the end earn simple interest on the balance — actual/365, or 366 in a leap year. The closed-form formula most calculators use is right only when the tenure is a whole number of quarters, and banks sell 444 and 555 days precisely because it is not.
Tax with the relief the slabs actually carry
The 87A rebate under the new regime tapers with marginal relief; under the old regime it stops dead at five lakh. Surcharge has its own relief and its own cap above five crore. Every threshold is dated and sourced from the department's published tables, so the answer changes when the law does.
